Bormioli Rocco signs Una, the bottle for the 150 Years of Italy

Bormioli Rocco, a company that holds an unchallenged leadership position in Italy in

the glass industry for home and catering, was chosen by VeronaFiere to produce Una, the wine bottle which celebrates 150 years of Italian Independence.
The project, brainchild of the President of Veronafiere, Ettore Riello, was immediately welcomed with great enthusiasm by the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and has been included among the more significant official events for the celebrations of 150 years of Italian Independence. A wine of high symbolic value, an official bottle memory of this anniversary that is a tribute to all the national and international institutions
it will be donated to, reflecting the sharing of the profound value of the unity and at the same time an instrument to highlight in the world the peculiarities of Italian viticulture, the only country to have at least one native grape for each of its 20
regions and therefore rich in differences, but capable of giving life to a system of production which is an expression of Italian excellence in the world. Forty native varieties to make a red and a white wine are the summation of the regions of the Belpaese, and officially represent the recurrence of the foundation of the Italian nation abroad. Assoenologi was involved in the project, to create the blend of 20 red grapes and 20 white grapes, one for each region, chosen according to the representativeness of the regional authorities for agriculture. Also unique are the bottles that will hold the wine, expressly designed and realised by Aldo Cibic, world-renowned architect and designer, and produced by the Food&Beverage Packaging Division of Bormioli Rocco.
Three formats for each type of wine, with two characteristic lines that have a strong identity design, a kind of archetype of the bottle of wine made new and contemporary.
The bottle of "Red wine of Italy" reinterprets the wine flask and the Bordeaux bottle, respectively the container of the deepest Italian historical roots, and the shape that has established itself as a classic container for our red wine.
The bottle of "White wine of Italy," with its slender shape, is in turn an evolution of the Burgundy bottle for the light wines of our countries.
Bormioli Rocco has chosen for both a glass with a particular colour, designed to better protect the precious contents from the light. "Bormioli Rocco is a historical brand that represents the excellence of the Made in Italy glass in the world, a company deeply rooted in the territory and Italian for over 150 years, precisely since 1825. We are very proud to be part of this important project that celebrates the Unity of Italy and further evidence of the link and especially the strong expertise of Bormioli Rocco in the field of professional products for wine" ends Francesco De Bartolomeis, CEO of Bormioli Rocco group.
