Bormioli Rocco main sponsor of Slow Fish 2011: a partnership dedicated to sustainability

Bormioli Rocco, historical partner of Slow Food, will be the main sponsor of Slow Fish 2011 (Genova, 27-30 May 2011), Fair sponsored by Slow Food, dedicated to the protection and enhancement of Italian and international fishing patrimony. "The one with Bormioli Rocco is an established partnership, based on shared principles such as the enhancement of quality raw materials, respect for nature and the environment. These are the values that guide all activities of Slow Food and that Slow Fish aims to promote, also thanks to the important support that Bormioli Rocco wanted to give us this year," said Silvio Barbero, Vice President of Slow Food Italy. Bormioli Rocco, which holds a leadership position in Italy in the field of glass for home and catering, will be present at the fair with an exhibition and sales stand, in which a selection of its products will be presented, and above all two important 2011innovations that go in the direction of environmental sustainability. Firstly, the Aquaria pitcher, in glass with a rubber cap, created to meet the growing demand for ‘0 kilometres’ water containers, clean, reusable, safe, recyclable, sustainable, and that fits perfectly to the bottle rack of the fridge. The ‘draught’ water is definitely one of the big trends of 2011: more and more municipalities offer their citizens water of their waterworks, micro-biologically pure and certified, which can be obtained from special dispensers. Good, inexpensive and especially ecological water. Bringing your own bottle to fill greatly reduces the environmental impact of the water market: no more production, packaging and shipping of plastic bottles, with all its costs in terms of economy and sustainability of the production cycle. "Bormioli Rocco, leader in Italy in the production of glass for home and catering, has green politics in its DNA: glass is in fact a 100% recyclable material and it’s also perfect for holding thanks to the pureness and simplicity of the raw materials used," says Giancarlo Masini, Director of Bormioli Rocco Home Division.

Moreover, in the conservation field, Bormioli Rocco presents the new Frigoverre Multi, the first container that can withstand the thermal shock of passing from freezer to oven, also equipped with a special cover made of 50%renewable sources thanks to the innovative ECO-PE, obtained from vegetal materials and therefore of reduced environmental impact. The new lids are odourless and guarantee the same performance as those in plastic.
